Andi Gutmans
Chief Executive Officer
Andi Gutmans is CEO for Zend Technologies. He has been instrumental in building Zend into the company it is today. In addition to building key partnerships with IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Adobe, and contributing to major customer & sales engagements, in 2006 he led the company’s largest round of funding to date. Gutmans’ leadership of the company’s open source project Zend Framework has included galvanizing the PHP and enterprise communities around the benefits of standardization and has broadened the professionalism and market reach of PHP and of Zend solutions worldwide.
Gutmans has also been a lead contributor to PHP since 1997, when he and Zeev Suraski developed the foundation for PHP 3 and later co-founded Zend Technologies together. PHP 3 was a turning point for the language, which today powers over 20 million websites including Facebook and Yahoo! and enjoys a following of over 5 million developers.
Gutmans was named one of Computerworld’s “40 innovative IT people to watch, under the age of 40.” He is also recognized from the widely circulated technical publications he has authored and is a frequent speaker on business and technology issues at global conferences. Gutmans is a member of the PHP Group, the Apache Software Foundation, and serves on the board of the Eclipse Foundation. Gutmans holds a B.A. in Computer Science from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
Siddhartha Agarwal
Vice President, Americas Field Operations
Siddhartha Agarwal is responsible for Zend's direct and indirect revenue channels in the United States, Canada, and South America. Siddhartha brings 15 years of experience engineering, building, and selling enterprise software products and services.
Prior to joining Zend, Siddhartha was Vice President of Sales at Solidcore Systems, where he instrumented the company’s transition from an endpoint security solution to a budget relevant compliance solution, enabling a dramatic acceleration in revenues. Before Solidcore, Siddhartha defined and managed the portfolio of remote infrastructure services for Totality Corporation (acquired by Verizon/MCI), later managing their east coast business as Regional Vice President of Sales & Services. Prior to Totality, Siddhartha founded companies such as Teamscape (acquired by Peoplesoft) and Contractor Online as VP of Engineering/CTO. Prior to these entrepreneurial initiatives, Siddhartha was Director of Development at Oracle, for Oracle's CRM eCommerce product, Internet Bill Presentment and Payment.
Siddhartha holds an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, a BE in Computer Science and Economics from California Institute of Technology, and a BA from Grinnell College.
Eldad Maniv
Vice President, Marketing & Product Management
Eldad Maniv is responsible for marketing and product management at Zend. He brings almost two decades of product management, marketing, engineering, sales, business development, and professional services experience to Zend. His areas of expertise span the application development, process automation, problem resolution, networking equipment, aerospace, telecommunications and medical markets.
Maniv joins the Zend leadership team from BMC Software (through acquisition of Identify Software) where he was VP Product Management responsible for products, marketing, customer support, and professional services and where he consistently grew sales 50% to 80%+ year-over-year over a 5 year period. He was founder and CEO at NextNine, a maker of support automation solutions for telecom where he personally sought and received corporate financing of over $25M. Additionally, Maniv was an executive and founder at BiTec, Ltd., chief of systems engineering at Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), and was an officer in the Israel Defense Forces for six years where his responsibilities included a multi-million dollar project in systems engineering.
A graduate of Hebrew University, cum laude in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science in the prestigious Talpiot program, Maniv has also completed the Graduate Management Program for executives of emerging companies at The Technion Institute of Management in Tel Aviv.
Moshe Molcho
Vice President, R&D and General Manager, Zend Israel
Moshe Molcho is responsible for Zend’s engineering organization as well as for general management of Zend Israel. Throughout his career Molcho has focused on building market-focused, client-oriented, and efficient teams in fast growing environments.
Most recently Molcho served as chief operating officer at Panaya, where he managed 75% of the workforce, including R&D, IT, operations, quality assurance, and customer care. Additionally he improved operations and development staff efficiency by over 100% and created the customer care concept there.
Molcho previously managed IBM’s Haifa Development Lab where he was responsible for Israeli development of IBM’s Microelectronics, E&TS, and Storage divisions. He ran a Lab with more than 150 hardware and software engineers working on 10 or more parallel projects, coordinated with IBM labs worldwide, significantly improved productivity and capabilities, and spearheaded a new off-shoring venture.
Prior to that, Molcho was vice president of engineering and COO for OnlineBenefits, responsible for building their delivery organization, as well as driving execution efficiency and financial stability. Before that, Molcho was vice president of engineering and general manager at C-Cube Microsystems, building their largest and most profitable division (consumer electronics) with sole responsibility for marketing & engineering and a P&L operation of $150+ million in revenue. During his tenure, C-Cube went public and grew from 100 employees and $20 million in revenuea to 900 employees and more than $350 million in annual revenues.
Molcho has over 18 years of technology experience subsequent to obtaining his BA (cum laude) and MSc degrees in computer science from the Technion, Israel.
Daniel Moskowitz
Vice President, Finance & Operations
Daniel leads the financial and operational aspects of Zend worldwide including finance, accounting, order-to-cash process, information technology & legal.
Daniel brings 15 years of experience including a strong international background. He came to Zend from Intuit, a maker of financial software for consumers & small businesses, where he was responsible for long range planning and resource allocation. Prior to that, he was director of finance at BMC Software, supporting a $500M division which included several acquisitions (Remedy, Marimba & Magic). Additionally, Daniel held various positions at Intel during a five year tenure, the last being as senior manager, corporate planning & reporting.
Daniel holds a BA in business & economics from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
Susie M. Sedlacek
Vice President, Global Services
Susie Sedlacek brings 25+ years of experience and success in software and hardware services to Zend. She is responsible for the company’s customer services worldwide including professional services, training, and support.
Prior to joining Zend, Susie was VP of Professional Services at Active Decisions (acquired by Knova), a Guided Selling web-application software company. Prior to Active Decisions, Susie was responsible for field support and consulting services for the Americas at Network Appliance (Nasdaq:NTAP). During her tenure, Susie oversaw the doubling of services year-over-year, and the development and execution of high value-added solutions to the enterprise data-center. Susie has held both global and international executive management positions at Niku, Serviceware, Sun Microsystems, and Hewlett-Packard. Susie drove service solutions at each of these companies during their high-growth business phases and entry into the enterprise markets where total solutions around technology were strategic to corporate goals. Susie started her career in management consulting at SRI International.
Susie holds an MBA and a BS in Economics from the University of San Francisco.
Zeev Suraski
Chief Technology Officer
Zeev was a lead contributor to PHP since 1997, when he and Andi Gutmans developed the foundation for PHP 3. That new version was a turning point for the language, which today powers over 20 million websites including Facebook and Yahoo! and enjoys a following of over 5 million developers. Zeev spearheaded the PHP 4 project, the version that tipped PHP to become the most popular Web development platform in the world, and later contributed to the PHP 5 project.
Zeev Suraski co-founded Zend Technologies in 1999 together with Andi Gutmans. He led the company's research & development teams to create the foundations for the company's current key technologies. In addition he has served as Zend's CTO and helped forge Zend as one of the key Web solutions providers, secure four rounds of financing, and establish Zend's presence in the European market.
Suraski serves on the board of Zend Technologies and is a member of the PHP Group and the Apache Software Foundation. Suraski holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.

Mark Burton, Executive Chairman
Mark Burton has 29 years of sales and marketing experience. His past accomplishments include executive sales roles at MySQL AB and Informatica. At MySQL, as EVP of Worldwide Sales and Alliances, he contributed as the sales executive building a worldwide sales engine monetizing the MySQL open source brand and culminating in a $1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems in February 2008. At Informatica, Mark held roles as senior vice president of Americas Sales and eventually group vice president of Worldwide Sales and Alliances. His contribution helped grow Informatica from $12m to over $150m in sales resulting in a successful IPO in April 1999 and a secondary offering in September 2000. Other positions include several vice president of sales and marketing roles in early stage companies, executive-in-residence at Partech International Venture Partners, and regional sales management at Oracle, among others.
Mark also has appointments on the board of directors of open-source leaders MuleSource and Infobright as well as on the advisory board for Jaspersoft.
Roni Hefetz, Board Member
Roni Hefetz is the co-founder and general partner of Walden Israel Venture Capital. Founded in 1993, Walden Israel manages $185 million and focuses on early-stage investments in the areas of communications and information technology.
Both in Israel and in the US, Roni has extensive entrepreneurial and operational experience. Prior to establishing Walden Israel, Roni was a venture partner with the Walden Group of International Venture Capital Funds in San Francisco. He was also a co-founder and general manager of the US operations of CI Systems, an Israeli high-tech electro optics company serving the defense market. Prior to that he spent several years with the Government of Israel in the Ministry of Finance at various positions including the Budget Department and the Investment Authority.
Roni holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He serves on the board of directors of several Walden Israel technology companies, including Siano, ColorChip, Amimon, SintecMedia, and Zend Technologies.
Cameron Lester, Board Member
Cameron Lester is a founding general partner with Azure Capital Partners where he specializes in software and related infrastructure technologies. His current board memberships include Limbo, PSS Systems, ROME, SourceCode Technology and Zend Technologies. Other successful investments include TopTier Software (acquired by SAP), VMware (acquired by EMC), Interwoven (IPO in 1999) and Salesforce.com (IPO in 2004).
Immediately prior to Azure, Cameron was a managing director and the group head of the Software Investment Banking Group at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). Prior to CSFB, Cameron was a director and the group head of the Software Investment Banking Group at Deutsche Bank Securities. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Cameron was a vice president at PaineWebber, focused on software. Over the course of his career, Cameron has provided strategic and investment advice to numerous leading private and public software companies. Notable firms include Advent Software, Baan, BEA Systems, Brio Technology, BSQUARE, Citrix Systems, Cygnus, DigitalThink, E.piphany, HNC Software, i2 Technologies, Infinity Financial, Informatica, Interwoven, JD Edwards, Liberate Technologies, NetDynamics, NetIQ, Onyx Software, PLATINUM technology, Pure Atria, Retek, Salesforce.com, Think Systems, Vantive, VERITAS Software and Vitria Technology.
Cameron received his B.A. degree in economics from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. in finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
Moshe Mor, Board Member
A Partner with the Venture Firm Greylock Partners, Moshe Mor focuses on enterprise software, systems and services. Working in Greylock’s Israel office Mor brings operational and venture experience to Zend’s Board. He was a member of SPL's founding team; from 1995 he led it as its CEO through rapid expansion to reach 1,000 employees and $150 million in revenues worldwide. Prior to SPL WorldGroup, Moshe held management positions in software companies in diverse stages, from start-ups to large established players. Moshe leads Greylock's international investment activities in Israel, Europe and emerging regions in concert with other Greylock partners in both the Bay Area and the Boston offices.
Moshe holds a BS degree in economics from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.
Danny Rimer, Board Member
Danny Rimer joined Index Ventures in 2002 as the partner responsible for establishing the firm's London office and expanding the firm's presence in Northern Europe. His investment interests include enterprise infrastructure, applications and services. He currently serves on the boards of KVS, MediaSurface, MySQL, Skype, Video Island and Zend, and is an observer on Betfair. Prior to joining Index, Danny was a general partner of The Barksdale Group, where he invested in a dozen companies including CrossGain (now BEA), myCFO (now Bank of Montreal), Neoteris (now NetScreen/Juniper), Ofoto (now Kodak) and TellMe. Prior to joining The Barksdale Group, Danny was managing director in Hambrecht & Quist's (now JP Morgan) Equity Research Group. At H&Q, Danny was the underwriting analyst for companies including Amazon, CheckPoint, CNET, Netscape, and Verisign. He also sponsored direct investments in over 20 companies. He holds an A.B from Harvard College.
Steven R. Springsteel, Board Member
Steve Springsteel is currently chairman, president, and CEO of Chordiant Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHRD). He brings over 20 years of high tech management experience to the Zend board of directors, including management of two successful IPOs and several mergers and acquisitions. Before Chordiant, Steve was president and CFO at Verity (NASDAQ: VRTY) where he led the company to profitability and shepherded the sale of the company to Autonomy. Steve will help guide Zend’s exceptional growth with a focus on streamlining operations and maximizing profitability. He is a frequent speaker on financial issues and has appeared on CNBC and other business media outlets, as well as at financial industry conferences. Steve holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cleveland State University.
