Webinar: Moving Your RPG Report to the Web with PHP Step by Step!
September 30, 2009 - September 30, 2009: 9:00 am PDT - your computer via webex
Many IBM i shops want to know where to start with PHP. It is a reasonable assumption that most RPG developers began their formative RPG development years cutting their teeth on green-bar reports. Report programs are a great place to start for several reasons including the fact that you can make a powerful impact with management and that reading report data tends to be a lot less dangerous than updating data files as a first step.
This presentation takes the RPG programmer through the steps necessary to move that RPG green-bar report to a webpage using PHP. Key features of this process will make liberal use of all the PHP tooling provided by Zend as well as a sample report and PHP script that you can download and install in your own environment. A sales history report from a fictitious company will illustrate key web development features like real time access to data, PHP toolkit examples for RPG program calls, HTML integration and some graphics to increase the visual impact of the data. All sample code used in the demonstration will be available to the attendee after the presentation to download and run on their local IBM i and can be customized for individual use.
