Welcome to the June edition of the Zend IBM i Newsletter! This is a monthly newsletter dedicated to PHP for the IBM i community.
ZENDCON 2009: October 19th - 22nd
IBM i-specific sessions at ZendCon
The 5th annual Zend/PHP Conference, the premier PHP conference, will be held October 19-22 in San Jose, California. ZendCon will include the most popular IBM i sessions again this year. These sessions will be specifically tailored to the IBM i community with topics for both beginners and advanced users. They will cover a wide range of areas including: best practices for running PHP on i, security, Zend Framework, case studies, and more.
If you are a developer, system administrator, IT Manager, or PHP community member, we invite you to attend. You will learn about current PHP capabilities on IBM i, get a glimpse of new technologies, learn about what other IBM i shops are doing with PHP but also network with peers from around world.

It is Memorial Day as I write this. For several years, our parish priest would print in the weekly bulletin a story about the song Taps. Whether you are familiar with the song or not, the lyrics and the story behind them are both sensitive and compelling. It speaks not about the politicians or the bureaucrats who try to make decisions on our behalf, but of the soldiers and the citizens they are sworn to protect.
