Opening Database Doors through PHP, by Jeff Olen

By introducing PHP into your environment, you open the door to databases other than DB2. If you are an RPG developer and DB2 fan, this may not seem like a big deal or even something that warrants exploring - but if you look a little closer you'll find that access to additional databases, such as MySQL and SQLite in particular, is very much worth exploring.
