Zend Technologies Positioned in the 'Visionary' Quadrant in 2Q 2005 Enterprise Application Server Market Magic Quadrant
Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision, Ability to Execute in EAS Market
CUPERTINO, CA - May 24, 2005 - Zend Technologies, Inc., the PHP company, and creator of products and services supporting the development, deployment and management of PHP-based applications, today announced that the company has been positioned in the "Visionary" quadrant in the 2Q 2005 Enterprise Application Servers (EAS) Magic Quadrant report published by market research firm, Gartner, Inc. (Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Servers, 2Q05, Y. Natis, M. Pezzini, K. Ijima, April 2005).
According to Gartner, vendors placed in the Visionary quadrant are "invested in addressing limitations of the dominating application server styles." In the Magic Quadrant, companies are plotted along multiple points within each quadrant signifying where they are in terms of Ability to Execute and Vision. Gartner defines vendors listed in the Visionary quadrant as having a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimizing service delivery.
As discussed in the Magic Quadrant report for 2Q 2005, the enterprise application server market is both competitive and expanding, with new players emerging to fill gaps and offer alternatives. To be noted as having "distinguished vision," according to the report, requires "company commitment to innovation, a viable business outlook, a degree of industry influence, (and) effective participation in industry-influencing standards and other organizations."
"Companies depend on research leaders, like Gartner, to help navigate their way to specific enterprise application server solutions," said Doron Gerstel, co-founder and CEO of Zend Technologies. "We believe Gartner's 'Magic Quadrant' report is not just a stamp of approval on our technology and direction; it confirms that Zend and its leading-edge solution, Zend Platform, as forces to be reckoned with in the search for enterprise-grade Web solutions."
