Zend and Adobe have teamed together to bring together the flexibility, productivity and enterprise reliability of Zend’s PHP technologies with the user experience benefits of Adobe Flex. The partnership will deliver technologies, content and services that make it easy for developers to build web Rich Internet Application using Flex client and PHP.

A key deliverable is the integration of Action Message Format (AMF) support into Zend Framework. AMF is an open-source, binary, high-speed format enabling Flash/Flex-based client applications to easily & rapidly exchange rich media & other data with servers. Zend and Adobe plan to integrate Zend Studio and Adobe Flex Builder, both built on the open source Eclipse platform, to provide integrated coding, debugging, and testing tools for professional developers using PHP and Flex. This will enable greater productivity, simplified deployment and end-to-end debugging of applications.

Zend and Microsoft have formed a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the performance and reliability of running PHP applications on Windows Server, and contributing these enhancements to the Open Source community. Zend Core, Zend’s tested, certified, and supported version of PHP, is now certified for Windows 2008. Zend Core updated for Windows Server 2008 will be available in March.

The Microsoft – Zend collaboration seeks to deliver richer functionality and better integration, resulting in improved performance and increased reliability. Improvements include:

• PHP codebase improvements (now part of PHP 5.2)
• Improvements in IIS 7 support for PHP
• Improvements in FastCGI for IIS (included in Windows Server 2008), that deliver substantial reliability and performance benefits for PHP applications running on Windows.

Zend will also use the technology for its Zend Platform product line, to enable customers to deploy business-critical PHP applications on the Windows Server platform.

Zend and IBM have teamed to accelerate PHP momentum by agreeing to develop the industry's first integrated solution designed to help developers build and deploy applications and services based on PHP. IBM partnered with Zend to deliver Zend Core for IBM.
