February 03, 2012Announcing the release of Zend Server 5.6 Hotfix 2This hotfix resolves a critical security vulnerability found in the versions of PHP included in Zend Server 5.6.0 for Linux, Windows, and Macintosh (for both PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.2).  The exploit (CVE-2012-0830) could allow arbitrary code to be remotely executed on a PHP system.

Zend Server and Zend Server CE 5.6.0 users for Windows or Linux should apply the hotfix immediately:

  • Linux: run your package manager's update command (see the Zend Server Installation Guide for more details)
  • Windows: download Hotfix 2
  • Mac OS: Hotfix 2 is being finalized and will be available next week (Note – Zend Server is not supported for production use on Mac OS)
  • IBM i systems running Zend Server 5.6.0 are not vulnerable to this exploit
  • Previous versions of Zend Server are not vulnerable to this exploit
January 24, 2012Announcing the release of Zend Server 5.6 Hotfix 1This hotfix resolves an issue found in the Zend Monitor component of Zend Server 5.6: under certain circumstances, the Zend Monitor component produces a redundant HTTP cookie on each request to the application server. This hotfix replaces the Zend Monitor component to avoid creation of such cookies.
  • For Linux: install the hotfix by updating the Zend Server packages using the package manager available on your Linux system (yum, aptitude, zypper)
  • For Windows: download the hotfix package from the Zend Server Downloads page and install on top of Zend Server 5.6
  • For Mac OS X: download the hotfix package from the Zend Server Downloads page, extract files from the archive, and follow the installation instructions found in the file HotFix.txt

Customer Quote

When it comes to ROI, we consider our investment in Zend technology to be a benefit on several fronts. It is easy to manage the PHP stack, and the strength of the error detection and reporting helps us reduce the time spent troubleshooting while increasing application availability and responsiveness. With session clustering alone, Zend more than paid for itself the moment we flipped the switch.

Eric LongSr. Manager, E-Business, Levolor

Zend Server paid for itself by virtue of the issues we found and fixed in the first week alone a benefit that is magnified exponentially as our e-commerce application grows.

Josh ButtsDirector of Web Development, Offers.com

With Zend Server, we achieved faster and smoother installations of our software technology stack, and saw more reliability and robustness in daily operations.
