    PHP 5.5 and 5.6 built-in executables (Windows only)

    • The PHP 5.5 and 5.6 built-in executables require the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 (x86 variant) to be installed in the operating system. The MSI installer of Zend Studio 12.5 and later installs it automatically, but users upgrading from earlier Zend Studio version must install it manually from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

    Apigility integration requirements

    • Internet Explorer >=10 is required on Windows for the Apigility Editor to render correctly.

    • Flash Player must be installed in the operating system.

    Known Issues

    • CordovaSim requires manual configuration of JRE (Mac OS X only). For some reason the Eclipse Platform on Mac OS X does not automatically configure the JRE that runs Studio. Users must manually configure it in the Java > Installed JREs preference page.

    • Reset Perspective may be required after installation of the Terminal plugin. This is required in case it does not appear in the Show In context menu.

    • During update of Studio a security warning about unsigned content may be shown. You can safely ignore this warning and proceed with the upgrade.

    • Z-Ray may not render correctly inside Zend Studio on Windows. A workaround can be applied in one of the following alternative ways:

      • Modify Zend Server configuration to include the "X-UA-Compatible: IE=edge" HTTP header in the response. If Zend Server is running on Apache HTTP Server then:

        • Add the following line in the httpd.conf file:

          Header add X-UA-Compatible "IE=edge"

        • Restart the Apache HTTP Server.

        • Reopen the web browser inside Zend Studio.

      • Modify the application to include "X-UA-Compatible: IE=edge" HTTP header in the response:

        • Add the following line in a suitable place in your PHP code:

          header("X-UA-Compatible: IE=edge");

        • Reopen the web browser inside Zend Studio.

      In Zend Server 8 and later Z-Ray will automatically add the "X-UA-Compatible: IE=edge" HTTP header in the response, so the above workaround will not be required.

    • Zend Debugger PHP extension is not available for PHP builds with Thread Safety enabled. You can find out the status of Thread Safety in your PHP:

      • in phpinfo() output
      • by checking the value of the predefined constant PHP_ZTS ("false" means Non Thread Safe, i.e. supported by Zend Debugger)

      If you use Thread-Safe PHP, consider Xdebug as the alternative.

    • Debug session is not started for both debugging an application and debug mode enabled against OpenShift target with zend-6.1 cartridge.

    • Zend Studio Crashes with Segmentation Fault in KDE 4.11 and newer, see http://kb.zend.com/zend-studio-crashes-with-segmentation-fault-in-kde-4-11

    • Zend Studio menus do not show or appear only partially in the menu bar of Ubuntu 13.10 and 14.04. The issue is caused by Ubuntu's bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/1208019. See http://kb.zend.com/zend-studio-menu-does-not-work-on-ubuntu-13-10/

    • Using Zend Studio's built-in PHP 5.5 binaries with Xdebug may be problematic on Windows and OS X.

    Updating from Zend Studio 10.0.0 Beta

    • Zend Studio 10 Beta release was built on top of Eclipse 4.2 but for better performance we decided to use Eclipse 3.8 for the official release. This base platform version downgrade will NOT allow updates from Zend Studio 10.0.0 Beta to the official release.    

    Migrating to Zend Studio 10.1.0

    • Zend Studio 10 starts with a default workspace: /Zend/workspaces/DefaultWorkspace. If this workspace was used by previous version of Zend Studio it is recommended to create a new workspace and import all projects from older workspaces to the new one after first startup.

    Documentation

    • Product documentation is available through the web GUI of the product, and on-line.

    Known Issues

    • Shutting down Zend Studio when Mobile GUI Editor has been used may crash JVM on Linux. This is mostly visible when restarting Zend Studio. If restart interrupts in the middle then Zend Studio must be started manually.

    • Detecting local Zend Server ('Add New Target' -> 'Detect Local') doesn't work on Windows 8.

      Workaround:

      • Add your local Zend Server via 'Add New Target' -> 'Zend Server' using API key.

    • Cloud Connected Mobile project on IBM i: Due to a limitation in the rewrite module of the IBM i Apache, rewrite rules that enables pretty URLs will not work out of the box.

      For example, instead of using:

      • http://server.address/appname/getCustomers

      one would have to use:

      • http://server.address/appname/index.php/getCustomers

      Workaround:

      • Manually enable pretty URLs by adding a RewriteBase statement to the .htaccess file, right below RewriteEngine On. For example for the case above:

        RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /appname

    • Cloud Connected Mobile project works out-of-the box only when deployed to Apache server (.htaccess based configuration). Running Cloud Connected Mobile project on IIS Server requires URL Rewrite module with imported rules from .htaccess file.

    • Using Web Mobile emulator on Windows requires Internet Explorer 'Access data sources across domains' option enabled:

      • Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab -> Security level ->
      • Custom level -> Miscellaneous -> Access data sources across domains -> Enable -> OK -> Apply

    • The default Apache 'Server API CGI/FastCGI' mode on Windows does not forward the 'Authorization' request header; this will cause the Zend Server Gateway Authentication step to fail.

      Workaround:

      • Uncomment the following two lines in the public/.htaccess file of Cloud Connected Mobile project:

    Mobile development requirements

    Updating from Zend Studio 10.x

    • Since Zend Studio 10.5 release we provide Mac OS X 64-bit packages only. This means there will be no updates available for 32-bit Zend Studio on Mac OS X. A new installation of 64-bit Zend Studio is required. Existing workspaces can be used with new 64-bit installation.

    • This version is backward compatible with all 10.x versions. To update add two new update sites in Help -> Install New Software -> Available Update Sites:

      and select Help -> Check for updates.

    • To display class inheritance charts in the documentation generated by PHPDocumentor installation of Graphviz is required. Due to compatibility issues, please install 

      • Graphviz version 2.30.1 on Mountain Lion
      • Graphviz version 2.28.0 on Windows and other Mac OS X distributions

    • Running mobile project as Web Mobile application (or using 'Preview Mode' of mobile drag & drop editor) on Windows requires Internet Explorer 'Access data sources across domains' option enabled:

      • Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab -> Security level ->
      • Custom level -> Miscellaneous -> Access data sources across domains -> Enable -> OK -> Apply

    • Due to Zend's contribution of PHP Code Formatter to opensource Eclipse PDT project the namespace of custom formatter preferences has changed and settings exported from/created with Zend Studio 10.0.1 will not work out of the box in Zend Studio >= 10.1.0.

      Workaround:

      • Export Formatter Profile using Studio 10.0.1 and replace all occurrences of "com.zend" by "org.eclipse" in the exported XML file before importing it into Zend Studio 10.1.0.

    • Detecting local Zend Server ('Add New Target' -> 'Detect Local') doesn't work on Windows 8.

      Workaround:

      • Add your local Zend Server via 'Add New Target' -> 'Zend Server' using API key.

    • Cloud Connected Mobile project on IBM i: Due to a limitation in the rewrite module of the IBM i Apache, rewrite rules that enables pretty URLs will not work out of the box.

      For example, instead of using:

      • http://server.address/appname/getCustomers

      one would have to use:

      • http://server.address/appname/index.php/getCustomers

      Workaround:

      • Manually enable pretty URLs by adding a RewriteBase statement to the .htaccess file, right below RewriteEngine On. For example for the case above:

        RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /appname

    • Cloud Connected Mobile project works out-of-the box only when deployed to Apache server (.htaccess based configuration). Running Cloud Connected Mobile project on IIS Server requires URL Rewrite module with imported rules from .htaccess file.

    • The default Apache 'Server API CGI/FastCGI' mode on Windows does not forward the 'Authorization' request header; this will cause the Zend Server Gateway Authentication step to fail.

      Workaround:

      • Uncomment the following two lines in the public/.htaccess file of Cloud Connected Mobile project:

        RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*)
RewriteRule .* - [e=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%1]

    • Using Android Development Toolkit (ADT) on Linux x86-64 requires installation of additional libraries :

      • Ubuntu:
