Keep Critical Apps Secure With PHP LTS
Running unsupported, end of life (EOL) PHP versions creates real and expensive risks. Security gaps go unpatched, compliance obligations become harder to meet, and teams lose time fighting issues that surface without warning — costing your organization thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, in fees and lost revenue.
PHP Long-Term Support from Zend keeps EOL PHP versions secure, stable, and ready for production. It delivers ongoing security fixes and updates through ZendPHP runtimes, so you can rely on trusted, tested patches, even after community support has ended.

PHP LTS: Frequently Asked Questions
PHP extended support is another name for PHP long-term support, or LTS. After the community ends official support for particular PHP versions, PHP LTS continues providing security fixes, critical patches, and support. It helps organizations maintain stability, reduce upgrade pressure, and keep legacy applications secure. It’s commonly used by enterprises that rely on older PHP versions in production and need ongoing protection.
PHP LTS from Zend is our long-term support offering that delivers certified, enterprise-grade PHP builds with security updates, bug fixes, and technical support. For example, in 2025 alone, ZendPHP patched 10+ newly discovered CVEs that impacted EOL PHP versions. You can view all disclosed CVEs, as well as mitigation tactics, in the Zend Security Center.

Using PHP LTS helps you keep older PHP versions secure long after community support ends. It provides ongoing fixes, stable runtimes, and expert guidance, reducing your risk of PHP exploitation and unexpected downtime, all while avoiding the associated costs:
- The average cost of a data breach in 2025 was $4.44 million
- One hour of downtime costs on average $300,000
- Post‑incident investigations often require tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in cybersecurity services
In addition to avoiding these expenses, PHP LTS also gives you control over your upgrade schedule. You can modernize when it fits your roadmap, not when vulnerabilities force you to. PHP LTS delivers the stability, protection, and long‑term reliability needed to operate safely and confidently.
As of the end of 2025, the PHP community fully supports PHP 8.4 and 8.5, with PHP 8.2 and 8.3 receiving security-only support.
Please see the following graphic for which PHP versions Zend still supports through our PHP Long-Term Support.
Zend currently provides full PHP extended support for PHP 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, and 8.1.
If you are deploying PHP 8.0 or a PHP version older than PHP 7.2, we offer Migration, Modernization, and Upgrade Services to make sure your critical applications remain compliant, secure, and able to access the latest features in the language.
PHP 7.4 is no longer supported by the community. However, PHP Long-Term Support from Zend for PHP 7.4 will continue. However, we recommend all teams upgrade to either a more recent version supported by Zend PHP LTS (such as PHP 8.1) or a newer version still supported by the community.
